The maiden flight of Singapore-based airline Scoot-Tiger Air was welcomed with a water cannon salute when it landed at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City yesterday afternoon.
There were 102 passengers on board the airline.
“Scoot will fly Singapore-Davao-Singapore every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday arriving in Davao at 2:00pm and departing for Singapore at 2:40pm,” Davao City Tourism Officer Gene Rose Tecson said.
“The demand is high for Filipinos wanting to go home specially since it’s nearing Christmas,” Tecson said. The flights will address the gap resulting from the cap imposed for arriving passengers in Manila and Clark, she added.
Tecson said “there is also a demand for flights directly to Davao so that Mindanaoans will not have to go to Manila or Cebu or Clark for inbound/outbound flights.”
Scoot is the first international airline to offer inbound and outbound flights to and from the city during the pandemic.
