SM Lanang Premier and Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao City, along with Robinsons Place Butuan, got the Silver Award for being the “Most Bike-Friendly (Large) Commercial Establishments” in Mindanao in the 2021 Mobility Awards.
Davao City won in three categories for the Mobility Awards. However, it failed to get recognition under the Most Bike-Friendly Workplaces for Mindanao category.
Among the criteria for the Awards are prevalence and quality of bike-friendly infrastructure, integration of inclusive mobility policies, and progress of infrastructure initiatives and enforcement of bicycle-friendly policies.
The recognition was made through the Mobility Awards, a platform that recognizes leadership efforts that promote cycling as a reliable, efficient and sustainable mode of transportation.
Davao City (Silver), along with Gingoog City (Bronze), made it in the Most Bike-Friendly Cities Category for Mindanao. The nationwide winners for this category are Iloilo City (Gold), Mandaue City (Silver), and Naga City (Silver).
One establishment in the city made it as the Most Bike-Friendly Commercial Establishments (Stand-Alone Enterprises) category for Mindanao. Natoy’s Best Bibingka & Kakainin Store, Davao City (Bronze) was recognized for its bike-friendly location and facilities.
The Most Bike-Friendly Workplaces for Mindanao are the Local Government Unit of Gingoog (Bronze) and Father Saturninos Urios University in Butuan City (Bronze).
The Mobility Awards is organized by The Climate Reality Project Philippines, MNL Moves, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), 350.org Pilipinas, and Pinay Bike Commuter Community. Also involved are the League of Cities Philippines and 27 regional partners that includes civic groups and active mobility advocates nationwide.
